4K - $36K a year The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Radiology Technologists in providing imaging procedures performed on patients in the various units of the radiology department in accordance with physicians' orders and the policies and procedures established by the Imaging Facility and other governing bodies for our Outpatient Imaging Facility.
This position will also coordinate with lead technologists the flow of patients throughout the department.
In addition, The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing the clerical support necessary for Imaging Services.
Clerical support including, but not limited to scheduling, checking in patients, insurance verifications/authorization, and collecting payments.
This could include responding to email, phone and fax requests, doing routine audits of patient record databases, correcting/editing information and other clerical functions as required by their designated site.
Essential Functions:
Assist technologist with paperwork, documenting histories and procedure documentation.
Interacts professionally with the technologists to coordinate exams.
Properly identifies patient using name and DOB.
Prepares appropriate contrast dosage.
Pre-register patients for exams.
Verify accuracy of the patient's personal and insurance information, obtaining copies of insurance cards and all necessary forms.
Ensures all requirements are met for a proper order.
Schedules patients, verifying preps and assuring patient's understanding.
Process payments when necessary and issue receipts.
Enters required data into the system and generates complete paperwork.
Ensure the accuracy of TOS payment collections.
Explains procedure to our patients in a competent caring manner.
inputs patients' information into computer while verifying all patient demographics, explaining forms, and obtaining necessary signatures including patient/legal representative signatures.
Confirms authorization requirements.
Minimizes in/out time.
