Summary:
The Patient Access Associate works as part of the medical office team performing those clerical duties necessary to prepare patients for a visit, to arrange for payment, and to make reappointments when necessary.
Duties include making appointments, preparing medical charts, gathering third-party payment information, recording charges, and collecting fees.
Qualifications:
The ability to relate with effectiveness to the public, the patient, and the health care providers.
The ability to effectively perform several duties that are part of the medical office activities, including the ability to perform basic mathematical functions consistently and correctly.
The ability to be bonded for the handling of cash receipts.
Responsibilities:
Greets patients in courteous and professional manner and addresses questions.
Ensues patient confidentiality, and provides patients with needed information.
Observes patients in waiting room and reports any apparent illness or distress to clinical staff.
Schedules appointments, prepares medical charts, and maintains smooth patient flow throughout clinic.
Gathers third party payment information for charges for patient services provided as indicated on the encounter form.
Establishes that each patient is advised of the Sliding Fee Scale and makes adjustments accordingly.
Collects and receives patient fees, and collects and maintains patient registration and utilization data for the UDS report.
Other duties as assigned.
Comply with applicable law and fully compliant and cooperate with clinic Compliance Program.
